G6 Materials Corp. is collaborating with Gilman Industries LLC to develop a new generation of Evolve(TM), a proprietary hydrogen generator that produces hydrogen by splitting water with an electric current.
G6 will develop a graphene-based material for electrodes within the hydrogen generator. University of New South Wales (UNSW), researchers have shown how a new class of low-cost graphene-based membranes – a type of filter used in industry sectors that generate enormous mixed waste gases, such as solid plastic waste, biowaste or wastewater – can be selectively tuned to separate different gases from gaseous mixtures.
The team plans to use these filters to separate and capture gases that have been considered waste, and therefore improve the way we use waste gas resources. ZEN Graphene Solutions has commenced scale-up and engineering studies on processes for the production of its Albany Pure Graphene products at the Company’s research and development facility in Guelph, Ontario, Canada. California-based company GraphAudio is seeking to commercialize graphene-based audio technology developed by researchers at Berkeley Lab and UC Berkeley in an effort to stimulate an audio revolution. Ramesh Ramchandani, GraphAudio CEO, said the company’s goal is to use the licensed technology to manufacture graphene components that other companies incorporate in their products. Haydale graphene has been incorporated into iCraft’s recently launched cosmetic face mask sheet. The sheet masks are face-shaped sheet fabrics for the global cosmetic market. The sheet masks utilise the thermal and electrical conductivity of graphene to help the skin absorb its contents through bioelectric currents. Haydale has supplied graphene to iCraft since May 2019 for development work in a number of areas including cosmetic use. iCraft, based in South Korea, is a global technology company with interests in security and network solutions as well as the health and beauty sector. Following intense research and rigorous testing, iCraft report zero harmful substances for graphene-based products, and has applied for three related patents. iCraft has now signed supply contracts with two brands to begin delivery of the cosmetic face mask sheets.
UK-based Graphene Composites is developing graphene ink for face masks and other personal protective equipment (PPE) to provide added protection against coronavirus. The company’s staff are currently working from home but are hoping to re-open the Centre for Process Innovation where it is based so they can progress the project. “What we want to do is put the silver nano particles on the surface of graphene nanoplatelets which can then be put onto face masks and all other personal protective equipment (PPE).” said CEO Sany Chen. https://graphenecomposites.com/
Directa Plus has secured a second contract for its graphene-enhanced oil contaminant treatment Grafysorber through subsidiary Setcar. The contract is with GSP Offshore, part of the Romanian oil services group GSP, and worth €5 million over a seven-year period. GSP already has an eight-year agreement with Romanian oil and gas group OMV Petrom, another partner of Directa Plus.
