Zeon Corp. has opened a carbon nanotubes manufacturing facility at the site of its Tokuyama Plant, Shunan City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, the company announced on 11 Nov. The unit cost Yen 400 million (€3 million) and will produce single-walled carbon nanotubes with features such as a high aspect ratio, purity and specific surface area.
The high-purity, single-walled carbon nanotubes, produced at a new plant in Shunan, Yamaguchi Prefecture, will go on sale around January at a price of about 1 million yen ($8,100) per kilogram. Annual production is expected to reach several tons.
The product will have a purity of 99 percent or more.
